The main reasons we burn out are as follows:

The biggest reason is overusing our mental muscles.


  • Emotional Labor: Constantly being forced to smile or be kind, contrary to our true feelings, quickly depletes our energy.
  • Perfectionism: When we hold ourselves to strict standards and strive for perfection in everything, our brains are constantly on edge.
  • Anxiety about the Future: "Anticipatory Anxiety," worrying about events that haven't even happened yet, can drain our energy even when we're still.

Physical Imbalances

If your body isn't healthy, your mental capacity quickly reaches its limits.


  • Sleep Deprivation: If your brain isn't given time to clear waste and recover, cognitive abilities decline and you become irritable. Nutritional Imbalance: Relying on high-sugar foods or caffeine provides temporary energy, but then blood sugar levels plummet, leaving us feeling even more helpless.


Loss of Control (Environmental Factors)

People experience the greatest stress when they feel they have no control over a situation.


  • Low Reward for Effort: Feelings of disappointment arise when hard work yields no results or when there is no recognition (reward) from others.
  • Decision-Making Tasks: Being forced to act solely at the behest of others, regardless of one's own will, can leave people feeling helpless.


Brain Overload

This is a particularly common problem for modern people.

  • Digital Fatigue: The constant barrage of smartphone notifications and information prevents the brain from resting.
  • Multitasking: Trying to handle multiple tasks simultaneously forces the brain to incur a "switching cost," leading to fatigue much more quickly.
